Healdsburg

Sonoma County, California

Dajie & I headed to this tiny town which aint tiny in what it has to offer

Wine tasting & indulging on delicacies is just what you can expect

The town's nicely decorated

With free-style trees and unqiue shops to entice the retail therapy needs

The main reason being there would be to join a Chocolate Tour

It was indeed something that we both were anticipating for

As expected, the group is indeed small with only 3 enthusiast including ourselves

*lol lol lol*

It was dumb for the organizer to not remind its customer to bring along ID for wine tasting

I was indeed sad that I had to forgo tasting those wines

Nevertheless,

We embarked on the journey, trotting from wine cellars to pastry shops

We started off at this really unique wine tasting room

Toad Hollow

It's a collaboration of two old friends who, more or less,

retired to an existence of peace and quiet in the Hollow, after a life of whirlwind world travel

Costeaux French Bakery & Cafe

Built in 1923

It really has a whole olden days feel and look

Everywhere on the wall were hung with medals that were won since the day of establishment

I fancied the toilet alot which was decorated with wine labels throughout

We tried on 2 different chocolate-based cake

Triple Choc Mouse & Choc Truffle

Lake Sonoma Winery

Sonoma is the birthplace of modern winemaking

Today, Sonoma has surpassed Napa and has grown to number one in grape sales,

yet still has significant potential for more growth by planting in unexplored territory

It's unique wines are made from the sub-appellation vineyards

of the Russian River, Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys

Sweet Memory Chocolates

Found the largest Strawberry coated chocolate

About the size of a kiwi fruit/lemon

??? Big enuff ???

!!!!! Overall, the whole tour sucks !!!!!

The chocs were below par

The wines were tasteless, as i tasted none

..... But .....

Something my dearest Dajie bought on the day of my arrival made up for it

A simple choc tart from a simple bakery in Berkeley

*Heavenly taste* Yummy*

We chanced upon this massive Candy Store

Powell's Sweet Shoppe

It's an old-time,old-fashioned,old-world candy store taken from America's imagination

Everyone has an extremely vivid and pleasant memory of where they went as a child

to get their favorite candy - whether it was the corner store or their Grandma's candy dish

Powell's Sweet Shoppe are a nostalgic re-creation of that classic and bygone era

The whole shop is just infested with nuthing but candies and more candies

We were both so fascinated with the amount of sweets that one can find

They offer almost everything that I've seen in all the countries I have travelled

!!! It's totally crazy !!!

At least we ended the whole experience in Healsburg on a nice note

I feel like a kid in a candy store and I haven't seen that since I was a kid

It's like walking down memory lane and reminding me of good things and good time

Some days its better to set my expectation low

Today is one of those day

Sometimes when I read what someone else has written
Words dive from my expectations and fall into a pit
The uplifting joys that I had secretly anticipate
Wither as a fragrant rose is cruelly decapitated

It is generally known that one who expects much

Will be often disappointed

Yet disappointment seldom cures us of expectation

Or has any other effect than that of producing a moral sentence or peevish exclamation

It is a bitter disappointment when I have sown benefits, to reap injuries

??? Must I be disappointed with the lesser things of life

Before I can comprehend the full value of the greater ???

I've learnt a vital lesson today

*** Disappointment is often the salt of life ***

??? Disappointment the nurse of wisdom ???

I've fallen

In the vast open sea

It's the 1st time

It feels home once again

Landed in San Francisco

In the arms of my dearest Dajie

Departed UK for the US

On a quest of exploring CIA @ Greystone in Napa Valley and more ...

She attempted to drove downtown to bring me for some sightseeing but to no avail

We were so lost due to the lack of GPS and wasted lots of petrol while circling round n round

*lol lol lol*so me when i am driving back in Sunny Singapore*lol lol lol*

Due to the theft-incident my family & moi had a year plus back

We decided not to take any risk by parking the car loaded with luggages in town area

Decided to drove dwn to the college town of Univeristy of California,Berkeley

It really reminds me of Oxford & Cambridge

It's really nice and very very very condusive to study

*envy*

We settled dwn in Tuk Tuk Cafe for Thai delicacies

!!! NOT yummy at ALL !!!

Cept for the Thai Ice Tea

Reached Dajie's accomodation in Saint Helena

!!! Really NICE !!!!

Her room is HUGE, double mine and its very clean and I felt refreshed

I can feel the 'safe air' surroundig me

*lol lol lol*

..... But .....

Her room is for PIGS to stay ONLY

I am downgraded to a PIG for 2weeks

..... sigh .....

F***ing messy

Despite the fact that she has soooo many empty corners to really tidy her things

It's JUST SO MY DAJIE

Back in Singapore, she is just as identical

My mum called and I kept complaining to her like hell

My mum aint surprised at all, knowing my sis

Mum commented :

'Ya lor, how to get married like that'

'Good Luck to her when she gets married'

I replied :

'Ya, better dun get married, anw i dun aproved at all as well'

*lol lol lol*

I just vacated my accomodation and ended with close to 20 BIG boxes

I seriously cannot imagine hw my sister is going to bring those stuff back when she grads in Sept

I told Mum that Dad can saved buying her an air-ticket

Just ask her to sleep with all her barangs in the Tyre Container for 3months
Just nice as Uncle Geroge will be shipping the container frm US to Sin

Was too exhausted when I arrived and my camera was in my luggage

Thus no pics of lovely San Fran yet

Today shall be a better day

~ sOrRoWs oF dEpArTuRe ~

Time passed by within split second

It's been a whopping 9months of having my feet on the Queen's ground

I have become attached to this place which I once dread to stay put in

It never comes across my mind that I will reminisce it at all

It's always when one dont get hold of it, one starts pondering how precious it was to them

Even though I am leaving UK for only 3 mths of well-deserved & precious holiday

*winks*aint true*

It feels like years that I am going back next

I guess the feeling sets in when I realise that it's going to be a whole new experience once again

Moving into an unknown area, room, hsemates,etc

I felt insecure about returning back to school despite those misses

It's never going to be the same anymore

I have to 're-access' my new hsemates to ensure a sense of security

It's never going to be 'home' once again

It's an exhausting few days right after my exams

It seems like there aint any settling in of relaxation mood

My mates and I were stressed up with clearing up our own room

It's time to vacate the current room

The school has a stupid system that I am soooo unwilling to comprehend

We are only allowed to stay in our hostel for 1 academic year

After which u need to re-apply again and move out

Its soooooo dumb

The additional cost incurred and the hassle we need to go through

*madness*

I had a torturous 2 nites of sleep due to the vast difference in the experience

For once, I felt like an insecure child

I felt soooo poor that I struggled within my own mind

I have taken for granted every inch of luxury or minimal survival tools I was given

I convince myself that at least I am way better than many homeless kids

At least I have a roof over my head

A loo which I can access at all time

A locked room that ensures I am safe

A bunch of hsemates that I am glued to

It was a big fall from those usual comforts that I had relied on too much

I shivered to sleep for 2nites

No pillows, duvet or even clean bedsheets for me to lie on

Just an empty filthy bed

Even in camps, we have sleeping bag with a cover for us to don on

I was really in deprive of sleep for those days due to constant tossing n turning

Though it's over, I actually misses it

Afterall, I guess I was very grateful that at least I had a bed

The nites of torture that I missed

It's time to say a temporary sayonara

To my beloved Guildford town

To the constant vibrant London streets

To my ever-lovely hsemates that I am really closed to

To those beloved Unimates of mine who I stayed up late to crack my brains with

To well-located Millennium House Flat 87 Rm 2 which I called 'Home' for 9mths

Finally

!!! It's OVER !!!

The torturous academic life of mine have ended

Temporarily

Am originally FAT, now is FATTER

..... damn .....

However,

It did not end with a nice note

Business Finance paper was F*** hell tough

Every flip of the 40 qns was a hell ride

The calculations and theories were driving me nuts

Banging my head profusely

Freaking exam hall was so not conducive

Madness cold windy breeze

!!! Dumb for them to OPEN ALL WINDOWS !!!

I was wearing 3 layers in a SPRING season

Shivering like mad while I struggle to digest those numerics into my mind

*pukes*

Nevetheless

FUN was indeed on my mates and moi's mind

Right after the putting the last dot on the exam script

We headed straight out of campus

To our favourite shopping paradise

Gunwharf Quay @ Portsmouth Habour

We were dead tired despite the joy within us

None of us had a good sleep the night before

Reason being we had stayed up too late the past few nites

Aint able to sleep well and keep tossing n turning while on bed

Struggling to sleep well for a 9am paper

*failed*

Still, we had our dosage of retail therapy each

Sarah-san burnt her pocket hole

It's been long since she really spent, thus forgive

*winks*

Honey Feona & I were moderate spender

Nuthing fanciful atrracted me as I keep telling myself, USA has more

*lol*

After a few hours of walking

Double exhaustion sets in

Settled in a new cafe restaurant by the bay

As Honey Feona is the 1st to head out of UK

Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful & Dopey decided to get together for a farewell dinner

It's going to be 3mths not seeing each other

It's tough for we see each other almost everyday

Even when there's no lesson, we will meet up for lunch and more

We roamed around Guildford Town

Chanced upon a random restaurant as it started to rain

A place where Melliot and I once visited, bt was rejected as it was full house

The food is really yummylicious

Everyone were just indulging with their own smoothie, except me

Aint a huge fan of smoothie, but I do give it thumbs up as well

Honey Feona left today

Back to Hong Kong

Sending her off on a smooth journey back home
