*{eSpAnoL dAy 3}*

27th March 2007, Tuesday
Yesterday was a mix day of spending moolah and sightseeing
Everyone had a fair share of shopping around to get their preferred style of things
Barcelona is never-ending with visitors' attractions

La Sagrada Familia
Gaudi's axtraordinary unfinished church is the symbol of Barcelona
The culmination of Gaudi's eccentric genius,
but still creating controversy with an on-going building schedule using modern designs
Love it or loathe it
You cannot ignore the Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia
(Expiatory, or Atonement, Temple of the Holy Family)
At 1st glance, the entire church looks like the work of a fevered imagination, but every datail of every spire, tower and column has its own precise religious symbolism, which is why the Sagrada Familia has been called a catechism in stone
Embarked to another destination
Casa Mila
One of Gaudi's secular masterpieces
Eccentric, fantastical roof terrace with views over Barcelona
The creamy limestone facade has been linked to everything from an abandoned stone quarry to the rippling waves of the sea
Standing like a giant, curving cliff face
With its wavy lines and undulating facade, the building deliberately sets out to challenge the strict uniformity and grid plan. Most of the eight floors still serves as private apartments , but other parts are administered as a cultural centre
The apartment
A pair of sixth-floor apartments which have been carefully restored to give a feel of early 20th century Barcelona
It is surprisingly spacious and is a reconstruction ofthe furnishings of a typical Modernista apartment and gives an insight into the lives of the early inhabitants of Casa Mila. A cabinet and bedroom suite by the Mallorcan furniture designer are among the items on display, together with everyday objects of kitchen, bathroom and nursery equipment, which have been laid out in situ
The Roof Terrace
The high point of a visit to Casa Mila is the remarkable roof terrace, with its chimneys and ventilation shafts in the shape of owls, warriors, helmeted centurions and others fashioned out of broken pottery, marble and glass.
We ended the day with a sumptous dinner by the port
Port Vell
It was the traditional cuisine
Paella
