***Hola Barcelona, Spain***25th March 2007, Sunday, 5amSleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey + Mavis departed lovely GuildfordEmbarking on our 1st voyage since Uni Life started 7mths agoMy ideal Unimates trip would be sort of a 'backpacking' and 'rough it out' journeyBut i doubt so, with these trying-hard-to-be 'delicate' and 'demure' girlsThere goes my ideal 'Europe' trip lifestyle, LOL
There's always a famous saying by god knows who"While embarking on a journey with a group, its either you bond or you part"See it for yourselfThose meanings behind every film captured
Timings in UK is driving me nuts Its such a hassle to be changing those screws on my watches when time takes a turnIts daylight saving on that day itselfResulting in us having lesser sleep timeKnowing that we wun be able to sleep as the transport is picking us up at 5amFeona and Sarah headed to my room at 10pm for PFC PFC = Perfect Fried Chicken!!!!hahahaha....brother or immitation of KFC!!!!!Mind you, UK does have KFC, much more yummy than SinAfter a heavy 'supper', we slacked in my room and waited for time to passTalked, Laughed, Watched, Slept an hour
Reached Gatwick Airport for our budgetted flight***Jetstar***It's pretty comfy for the price we pay!Dirt cheap can!!!!Here we Go!!!
Touched down ard 10amWandered around the airport to asked for directions Boarded a bus heading towards our Hotel!!!As excpected, EVEYRTHING is in SPANISH!!!We missed the stop and had to backtrack our way, lugging our barangs barangs, walkingAfter several navigations, we are still a little lostThus, my stint in hotels comes in handyI was smart enough to act like a guest of a pretty posh hotelWent into the hotel and loitered till the cafeteria area and walked back to the lobbyThus, passing by the conciergeThem assuming I was a guest, I too the advantage of asking for the directions to the hotel we are stayingBut, I said that I am heading there to find a fren of mine*phew*LOL*At last, we manged to find our HOTEL RONDALocated at a small corner, but very accessible to the main shopping street*excited*
After dropping our barangs barangs in the hotel, prior to checking inWe were famished and decided to try on some local delicaciesWhat to look for other than!!!TAPAS!!!Approach this ok looking cafe and the warm greetings we received were over-whelmingThe waiter was hilarious and really nice to usAs we cant read spanish, duhz, he ordered some specialities for me to try onNonetheless, we just gobbled everything down as we cant resist no moreEnded lunch within 30mins*laughs*
Headed to the underground and mingle our way to the 1st tourist site
Catedral de la SeuThe religious heart of the old town, with spectacular views over the Barri Gotic from its high roofOne of the finest examples of Catalan Gothic architecture in the regionThis site has been important to the city because of its prime position on a hillAn elevator takes us to the roof from where magnificent panoramic views of the city and the cathedral's spires can be enjoyed from a platform placed over the central nave. The statue perched on top of the highest and central spire is of St. Helen and the two bell towers are also named after saints: Eulalia and Honorata. There is a riot of sculptural detail on both, depicting saints, crucifixes and animal life
